Default Going to Phoenix -- Again!

Hi Guys,
Well, I will be in Lizard Land (aka Phoenix) again -- the second
week in May. DD's day care provider is taking her vacation so I will
be there to babysit. We are going to Hawaii on 22 April and had
already planned to come home by way of Lizard Land so we could be there
for the SMDGD's 2nd b-day party on 08 May. DH will come home that
MOnday as lanned and I will stay until Saturday.
So -- I will have a car and was wondering if there are any new LQS?
Also, could someone tell me where that new one is in north central-ish
Phoenix? I went at Christmas and it was really a neat shop & I would
like to go back -- even if I do have to schlepp the kidd-o along!!
If anyone is up for a meet & greet, let me know. As I said, I will
have a car so I could go just about anywhere. I will have to bring the
SMDGD along but she's always been very good when she's with me and her
folks aren't around -- LOL -- just like most kids!! Besides, she
*loves* to shop and go out and she knows I will drag her sorry little
baby butt home in a heartbeat if she acts up!! I am a MEAN
GrandMother but she minds me :-)! CiaoMeow ^;;^

Hi Mary,
So you will be here on Mother's Day. I am teaching a convergence class
that day at the store on 35th Ave. (If you haven't been to it, another
good one to stop by at some point. Lots of fabrics, but in the back.
Front is sewing machines in one direction and vacuums in the other. But
the back is full of fabric and thread and other goodies. )
On the 12th, that Thurs, I am teaching a String Quilt class at QuiltZ.
Let me know and I can meet you there another day if you wish. Or show
up then and I will take a few minutes to say hi. G

I will e-mail you with my phone number for whatever. Even a meet up and
"tour" of Cerreta's Chocolates if you haven't found them yet. Or Craft
Mart (great prices on good fabric.) or whatever.

Pati, in Phx

WOW!

Chocolate and fabric in Phoenix!!!! Where, where, where????

My DH and I were in Sedona last week talking to builders and it looks like
our dream retirement home might actually become a reality!!!!! I know it is
about 2 hours north of Phoenix, but there is only one quilt/fabric shop
there and no cross stitch or needlepoint shops, so I will most certainly be
trekking to Phoenix often.

What and where are the best quilt/fabric shops in Phoenix? Where are
Cerreta's Chocolates and Craft Mart?

How do Cerreta's Chocolates compare to See's, Godiva, etc. etc.?

Thanks.

I liked those chocolates and I am a big See's fan but not such a Godiva
fan.

My in-laws also took us to a hot sauce factory where they had donkeys
out front and the pretzel factory store. There was also a very wicked
ice cream parlor that has Family Circus cartoons on the walls. They had
very good sundae's. You need to eat ice cream in a hot place like
Phoenix. :-)

SEE'S!!!!!

Oh, lordie, how I miss See's Chocolates since I moved east 25 years ago
(I grew up in Santa Barbara, CA). Wegman's reputedly has a license to
sell them, but the local Wegman's (here in upstate NY) doesn't.

*sigh*

(I grew up in Santa Barbara, CA). ......

You can buy them online! When DH had a bunch of Japanese business
men visiting, he put together omiyage bags for them. He had something
with his company logo, something with the Braves logo (remember, I am
in Magnoliaville, AKA Atlanta Metro area), a big bottle of Jack Black
and a big box of See's Chocolates. He insisted on See's and he found
the website and ordered it online. The bad part was that it was a last
minute thing (couldn't find any decent chocolates here) so they had to
pay for overnight delivery -- on SIX pounds of chocolate -- LOLOL!
DD and I a;awys make a point of stopping in at the local See's so that
I can get my chocolate covered almond toffee and she can get her
chocolate covered orange sticks :-). CiaoMeow ^;;^

Marianne,
there are lots of great quilt shops in the Phoenix area. Depends on
what you want. Of course the one up in Sedona is good too, and also has
a gallery. I really want to be able to get up there someday and visit.

Cerreta's Chocolates is just down Glendale Rd. from where I live. BG
It is wonderful chocolate. And fresh! I like them better than See's,
never had Godiva to compare it to. I've sent some to others, and in a
whatchagot box at one time so maybe someone else can add comparisons. I
love the Cerreta's Roman Rum and Almond Amarreto candies, as well as
their pralines and cream(?) and several of their others. The caramels
are also good and so are the "cactus" flavored taffys.
Let me know when you are planning on heading down and we can do a meet
up and mini shop hop if you like.

The ice cream store is The Sugar Bowl in Scottsdale. They have a killer
sundae called Pinnacle Peak Pineapple sundae. If you are ever there you have
to try it. There is also a nice sized quilt store in Scottsdale. I will
have to try to remember the name and post it. If I remember correctly there
are a couple of quilt shops up the mountain in Flagstaff. You might check
those out too.

Sheesh -- I visit there almost every time I am in Lizard Land (which is
happening a LOT more then it used to) and you'd *think* I wouold
remember the name!! No such luck. I do know that it is in the AirPark
on Redmond (or some similar spelling). Actually, I can drive right to
it -- just can't remember the name. I will ask my friend who lives in
Scottsdale -- she'll remember :-)! It's a nice LQS, not terribly large
but the people are very friendly. CiaoMeow ^;;^
