Small World
Members of the TCIA (Tree Care Industry Association), "Arbrioculture
types", "Tree Climbers" recently had a convention in Baltimore. They took the opportunity to study and climb the USS Constellation's rigging. One of the members of the TCIA posted some pictures of their experiences at the USS Constellation. The site is http://www.babysitterdirectory.net/tcia/ . Some great pics! If you are interested in Tall Ship Rigging, and we all should be with Russell Crowe's new movie, have a look. (The above information was found on the TreeBuzz forum. http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/ubbthreads.php ) I remember that on Feb. 8, 2003, StainlessSteelRat posted information here on a workshop on Tall Ship Rigging in Baltimore, Maryland. The workshop was to help restore rigging on the USS Constellation. Several members of the IGKT-NAB attended. http://www.igktnab.org . Perhaps the ratlines on the shrouds they worked on were climbed by the TCIA members. Small World. Brian. |

(couldn't resist ) I pinged KZ about the TCI show, but got no reply; I presume that he was there, though. Friday a.m. would've been the ticket, but I learned of the show too late (Thursday?) to be able to arrange for it: they had an 8am session on the mechanics & methods of arborist tree work, given by two well-respected guys (one a champ tree (read "rope") climber)! There were three rope companies there (Samson, Yale, Wall), I think (though maybe I recall seeing one other name vice "Wall" in the list), and lots of goodies, I hear--and some heard-on-the-Net guys. It looks like it was not only informative; but also, fun! The album is from Proclimber's website, a supplier of arborist supplies in Wales, U.K. Small world - Brian. |
