If everyone with access to a computer who needs money put up a site begging
for money, the size of the Internet would grow to the point where we'd all
get brain tumors because of the electrons bombarding us.

Where was that site for the aluminum foil hats?

I can't believe some people. Didn't your mother teach you it's pathetic to
beg?

And if more people that could help would, there would be a lot less people
with a need to beg.

John, in my city I pass people every day asking me for money. Constantly. If
I helped every one of them, I wouldn't eat. (There are a zillion programs for
the homeless and hungry in this town.)

I'm seriously disabled. I make less than $600 a month in disability payments.
I never beg, but I could sure use the money. I feel assaulted by the folks who
ask for money -- in the street, on websites. What gives them the right to my
livelihood? What makes it okay for them to constantly harrass me for the
little money I have?

I help where I can but I have very little "extra" money. I haven't had a
full-time job in 15 months and I'm not sure when I will again. My husband
had a heart attack last year and we still owe the hospital. They've been
getting rather demanding lately. We're refinancing the house tomorrow so
that we will have a little extra money to pay bills.

I wish I could give more but I'll be damned if I'm going to chip in to
someone who resorts to begging on a website. There's something slimy about
that. My opinion only.

What makes you think we don't help? I generally don't give to beggars,
because I'd be assisting them in hurting themselves - most panhandlers around

here are alcoholics or drug addicts or both. I'd much rather give my money
to helping the people rid themselves of their demons for good, and to
educate/raise the next generation, so that the future will be better than
today.

You're preaching to the choir here, Pastor. This newsgroup is populated by
one heck of a lot of people who are in the trenches, helping others every
single day. If you have spent any time here at all, you'd know that we're
not all about those pretty baubles with holes in them. This is a group of
people that don't just talk the talk, and it's hurtful to have a stranger
accuse us of doing otherwise.

I help. But I don't help people with internet connections and websites
unless they have a product to sell at a competetive price.

I am in debt. Most of America is in debt. And you know what? Most of us
are working our butts off trying to make ends meet. I'd respect that guy
if his website was anything but begging, but it's JUST BEGGING. I don't
respect beggars, and I don't help them. I donate hundreds of dollars per
year... shooting for a thousand this year... worth of goods to worthy
causes. Internet begging is NOT a cause I find worthy. I wonder if he
bought his computer on credit?
