Question about finished pieces
Right now, money is tight, and the best thing I can afford for stringing
necklaces and bracelets, is beading thread. Is it safe to sell pieces strung on doubled up beading thread? I have a nice necklace that I would like to put up on E-Bay that is strung on doubled up beading thread, but am kinda worried that it might break, despite the test my son gave it by pulling on it, with his strong grip while he was wearing it one day (he likes the beads no matter what color, size, and shape they are, infact he has his own small strand of plastic cat's eyes on ribbon, since ribbon is a PITA to get undone when it is knotted, so that he can't get them off without scissors...he wasn't out of my sight with that necklace of course). Anyway back to my original question, is it ok to sell a piece that is made on doubled up beading thread, or is there something better that I could use that is still cheap enough so as not to break the bank? P.S. You can see that necklace at the link in my sig line. It is the one with the red glass rounds. And also do you think that I should make a bracelet or earrings to go with it, or just leave it alone to sell it? -- Marissa Undercofler http://groups.msn.com/MarissasPhotos/shoebox.msnw |

You need to go back through the necklace, as many times as you can without
ruining the drape, IMO. Two-thread strength is not enough, chile! Is it safe to sell pieces strung on doubled up beading thread? Marissa, I'd like to see you make a beaded necklace that looks like the wreath
you made for your sister! Kinda interesting challenge.....and possible, too. http://groups.msn.com/MarissasPhotos/shoebox.msnw ~~ Sooz ------- "Selective deafness, it's a wonderful thing." ~Kathy N-V ESBC ~ Dr. Sooz's Bead Links http://airandearth.netfirms.com/soozlinkslist.html ~ Bead Notes: Beading information A - Z http://www.lampwork.net/beadnotes.html |

Ok, I will see what I can do to remedy that. Thanks Sooz.

That would be cool. I am sure I could do it, but it would mean finding small
white, pink, and blue flower beads, some butterflies, and also some ladybugs (the ladybugs I have, are too small to put a hole through. They look like it anyway). The hats would be kinda hard to put on a necklace unless someone made a lampwork one that could be the focal... I was actually thinking of a challenge piece for the challenge that Rachel (I can't remember which one) posted a few months back. I bought a carved 40mm rose quartz flower from MJ (Halsey Trading) about a month ago, and I have never used anything like that before. I need a few more colors of Swarovski's and seed beads or maybe rounds to do it though. All the pinks I have are too bright or light...not the right color to match the rose quartz. Marissa P.S. If it were me, I'd re-string it on 30-50 lb. test Spiderwire Fusion
(cheaper than PowerPro, but made of similarly strong stuff). That's going to be closest to things like SoftFlex or Beadalon in break-resistence. And it will cost dramatically less somewhere in the neighborhood of $6 for 150 yards, if memory serves. If I had to knot it, I'd glue the knots. If I crimped it, I'd test carefully to make sure the crimps 'took' well before trusting it to the marketplace. I think you mean Marisa Exter. We are 2 different Maris(s)a's. I am Marissa

I've sold seed beads on doubled D thread. But that was much lighter than
this piece. The cost for a "spool" of good stringing material might be $5 to $25 but that's not much compared to beads, and will do a bunch of necklaces. Also not much compared to good findings Tina "Marissa Undercofler" wrote in message t... This site is what made me think of the wreath becoming a beaded necklace --
check it out. I got so inspired! Katz, Marcia: Festoonery Beads http://www.festoonery.com/ That would be cool. interpretation. See Marcia Katz's website -- previous post.
