Popping in to say a big thank you to everyone (listed as: Michelle,
Bart, Anna MAria, Rusty, Jan, Janise, Christine, Aud, Olwyn Mary,
Gemini, Pirjo, Carol in TN, Gwen and [especially] Nora) who
contributed to the parcel that arrived today. (pretty impressive
delivery since posted on Monday in US and delivered on Sat in UK!)

Christine, the socks are absolutely gorgeous - DH is particularly taken
with them.
Michelle, your cap was the first think I opened - I really like the "lift"
the black rows give to the white.
Janise, the feet knitted into the extra square are so cute and the blue
of the cap is such a lovely shade.

Things here are basically going well, although its still a bit of a bumpy
ride. I think I've finally got my brain round the concept that this really
is happening this time - until fairly recently I was finding it difficult
for no good reason to believe that it would happen.

Although I do agency work I've been at the same firm since November and
was supposed to be there until I go on maternity leave on 24 March but
a week ago last Thursday they turned round and said they didn't need me
after the following day! At that point it was only three weeks till I
should have finished anyway. This last week it has meant I only got one
day's work as I had antenatal appointments on two days and don't work
Wednesday anyway.

Both the Ob/Gyn and the midwife are currently being exercised by the fact
that the fundus measurement is lots bigger than it should be which they
say implies the baby is very big. I'm refusing to let them worry me as
there is no allowance for the fact that I was significantly overweight
before I got pregnant and carry a fair portion of that overweightness
round my stomach!

I'm finding that I get very tired but have reached the stage of not sleeping
properly. Back ache is beginning to be quite a problem and finding any chair
that is even half-way comfortable to sit on is a challenge! Am attempting
to get the house sorted out a bit - next thing to do is to dismantle the
desk in my work room (which is about to become the baby's room) as otherwise
there is no space for a cot.

We went to a "nearly new sale" last weekend and came home with far more
baby clothes than we really need plus cot sheets and blankets and a
bouncer. We've now been offered a cot, a moses basket, a baby bath and
a car seat by one friend and a pram by a second, a back-pack carrier,
high chair, a pushchair suitable for a slightly older baby and three
stair gates by a third and a travel cot by a fourth. That probably
covers the major items we might need!

My parents are coming over from Australia for 10 weeks arriving on 17 May
and we've managed to find a flat for them to rent for that time just 15
min drive away - the thought of having them in the house for that length
of time when we're trying to adjust to baby's presence was a bit much!

Ray,
Although I couldn't be a part of your parcel, my thoughts have been with

Hello Ray - I guess I have been away too long - I had no idea that you were
expecting until I heard from Nora and have not had a chance to contact you
since - I wish you all the best with the "bid day" and much happiness with
the baby.

I was glad to hear your Aussie parents will be around for the period of the
new baby - it really will be lovely to have them ther - but I agree not
"underfoot" God Bless Gwen

Hi!
You are welcome. I only say it concerning my part in that package...making
surprises to others makes me feel good too.

Now, Gwen wrote this.

I must say I agree. I am glad they will be there. Distant enough but
available...or something like that. I know...this may have been a rude thing
to say but I am trying to say that they are available but there is enough
space between your family and your parents.

Hi Ray, you are most welcome, they come with all my very best wishes for a
safe & easy delivery, and a swift return to as normal a life as you ever get
with a baby around! And the socks were great to knit, they grew so quickly
being tiny
Love & higs
