Don't worry, I'll tell them we haven't seen you lately, besides, it wasn't you
anyway, and ya never did it, no how! and they will go away, to sniff out
dangling participles.

Everybody here will back me up, right?

LOL
All kidding aside now---

This is a GREAT product esp. for children. I just took care of a little
boy--only 2 years old for 2 hours and he was so fascinated and within an
hour it was set up enough to take home. He loved rolling it into snakes and
making bugs. The snakes when "squiggled" just made him squeal with delight.
Works really, really well. Smooth as silk and molds perfectly in Amaco
molds, Alley Goop molds and Miracle Molds. Perfect consistency for
working---of course this is a fairly new product and has not had any time to
dry out on the shelf.

It does not have the feel at all of all the products like DAS Modeling
material or the other similar non-polymer clays. It works so much like
polymer clay that I think this could easily be the material that is being
used in the auctions mentioned and it has the look. The only thing I would
need to watch now is whether it has cracking upon curing or it shrinks. I
would think it would shrink a little since moisture has to go to set up. It
starts to dry fairly quickly and if a spritz of water is added, it can work
longer. But unless the water is worked into the clay very evenly, I think
there could be some light crackling. I do see possibilities---esp. for
miniaturists!
So here's the product again...

How on earth did they ever get that name anyway?

looks interesting, Jeanne. Somebody certainly put some effort into the
packaging and marketing aspects.

And did you see this part?

That is a brilliant idea---esp. the way they have it set up.

I did see that--its quite often the case that there's an endorsement policy
with suppliers, but I've not seen it spelled out right out in front on the
website where everyone can see it before.

Does anyone know if their gridded working mat would work with polymer clay too?

Speaking of gridded surfaces, Mary Reynolds of my guild gave a demo on boxes
the other night and used an Omnigrid quilter's ruler for making her cuts so
they'd be straight and measurable at the same time. I was surprised that this
stiff plastic isn't the kind that's melted by raw clay, but it must be acrylic.
Have to dig mine out... good thing to work on when making measured, straight
or parallel cuts. Some quilter's rulers even have various triangles, etc.,
marked on them.

She used the (back side of the) 6 x 12" one with bright yellow lines.

I've been using a sheet of graph paper stuck to the back of my clear acrylic
work surface, but this would be better in various ways.

Just a note about my suggesting Omnigrid rulers as work surfaces! Jeanne R.
has said that Diluent took all the lines off of her older one.

Mary actually works on the back side of her Omnigrid (to avoid slight
impressions from the raised lines), and her ruler is newer (but not brand new)
.. Don't know if those could be factors or not, though the solvent part could
be tested by rubbing a bit of Diluent on a small area to see what happens, I
guess. I thought I'd probably end up reading the numbers backwards and upside
down anyway since I'd also want to use the back side if impressions would be a
factor.

I didn't see any signs of paint removal on Mary's Omnigrid, so maybe she's just
been careful. I'll ask her whether she ever gets raw clay on the front side of
her ruler though and report back.

Has anyone tried the Makin's Clay by Provo Craft? It is a no bake clay and
comes in several colors.

I saw that in the craft store. They also had awesome little cutters that are
perfect for polymer clay. I don't remember if it's by the same company, but it
was on the same end cap.
