Happy Dance--tallit finished!
Decided to add fringes in addition to the ritual fringes in the corner. My husband has long arms and the tallit, even though as long as usual, looked as if it needed a bit more length. The fringe is made up of lengths of perle cotton individually threaded and knotted (yes, I have a blister!). Now, if only I hadn't made the companion tallit bag (same fabric as neckpiece) a little too snug... Anyway, the tallit pictures are the last two pics in the Sewing Projects album. --Heidi http://community.webshots.com/user/rabbit2b |

Well... it's got a lining. I'll post a picture of it (in the unfinished
tallit folder) and see if we can figure something out. I was actually thinking of chopping off the bottom and attaching a new bottom with coordinating fabric. But I haven't really studied it to see if there'd be something simpler and/or better. Or if I should just start from scratch. I'm pretty sure I've got enough fabric to do it. --Heidi http://community.webshots.com/user/rabbit2b "LC aka Fiddy" wrote in message ... start allover. the tallit and bag are too beautiful to start patching.
Will the tztitzit be ashkenazic or sephardic? I also make tallitot. painted on china silk or aplique on dupioni. Currently finishing one for a young woman becoming bat mitvah in a week. It's teal and turquoise dupioni with silver stars. She wanted an atarah, I prefer women's tallitot with out them. Can one see more of your work? diana "hfw" wrote in message ... Thank you!
That was only the second one I've made. DH wore it for the first time today. The bag fit is snugger than I'd like, but the tallit wasn't all wrinkled after being in it for several days. My other stuff, including the first tallit I made, is in the Sewing Projects folder. I just started sewing again in August, after about 30 years... --Heidi http://community.webshots.com/user/rabbit2b "Diana" wrote in message om... start allover. the tallit and bag are too beautiful to start patching.
