If you decide to take a class with Ruth, be prepared to be working on your
pattern for quite some time.

My quilt has 7 gerbera daisies in it [yes, it was my choice] and has taken a
long time to finally arrive at my final freezer paper pattern.

Late this afternoon, I finally started to make fabric choices. Even with
cutting a lot of detail down, one of my daisies has 18 petals. The next one
has even more. But it's a wonderful feeling of accomplishment to finally
get this far.

So far I'm interviewing and auditioning fabrics by pinning them onto the
pattern. When I like what I have I'll start to cut into the pattern and
iron them on. When everything is ironed on you begin to sew.

This is NOT quilt in a day. It may be my 2010 Winter Olympic quilt [for
those who aren't aware, New Westminster is a suburb of Vancouver, site of
the 2010 Winter Olympics]. No, I don't think it will take that long, just
seem like if. I'll have to put it in a prominent spot to remind me to keep
working on it.

Off to put my feet up, not quite as sore as last night,

I'd have to be in just the right frame of mind to practice the patience and
perserverance of doing this technique. I know it's really wonderful to know
the process from beginning to end. I just don't know if I have the
fortitude to try it. I can't wait to see your masterpiece.

You may have to wait some time for the finished project, but I do hope to
finish it off. Now that I'm selecting fabrics I to finish it off.

I sort of used her technique [without knowing it] as the centre for my first
RTCQ round robin. Here is the link to the page I have on my website.
http://shh.apparitiondesigns.com/gal...nd2002/?view=5

Check out her books for inspiration.

Gosh, Sandi, I can hardly wait until you have it far enough along that
you can post some "in-progress" photos! It sounds wonderful!

Unfortunately I forgot my camera at home today. Fortunately a friend took a
picture of my work in progress today for me. I'll also take some when I put
it up in my sewing room. I plan to keep it in plain view until it's done.

I got all but 2 of the daisies "planned" with fabrics, may change my mind
when I see it through the camera lens.

Only my friend Ethel managed to do any sewing on her quilt. I hope to plan
a few more fabrics for background before starting to cut out the templates.

Tired, overloaded with information, but definitely recommending her
workshops. She is booking into 2009!

One of the best things is that after being predicted that we would have rain
the entire time she was here, it didn't rain except at night or early
morning. It was so mild that we even ate our lunches outside everyday
except today! Sunny skies showing off to Ruth!

Gotta do some laundry for tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I don't maintain my own website and my nephew just started
his first year of university. I don't think I will even ask him to do it.

Take out one of her books from the library or better yet, buy the Veggie
book, the Flower book is now out of print. Ruth has some at her website, I
saw one on Amazon.com for about CAD$145!

I have a couple of her books. I know she can do it....I want to see how
well she can teach someone else to do her techniques!!!! Just teasing you
about getting pictures up though. Don't worry about it.
She's an amazing woman. Everytime I watch the SQ where she's piecing a
circle inside another piece, I'm just amazed. She makes it look soooooo
easy.

I just wish that we could get SQ, the only quilt show we get right now is
out of Seattle, Quilt Central, haven't enjoyed the first one I've tape,
haven't seen the second one. HGTV has dropped SQ from the Canadian
schedule.
I will send you a picture of my WIP privately when I get it on the computer
if you like.
