Is wool from Merino sheep always labeled "Merino wool"?
Hello everyone,
I'm curious to know how much of the wool sold around the world is produced by merino sheep, but not labeled 'merino wool.' does anyone have an idea, or a lead? Thank you very much for your help! Ilya Zarembsky |

Thank you, Johanna...that makes a lot of sense. Now my main concern is
the use of wool for things like billiard cloth -- markets where it's less clear whether the 'merino' label fetches better prices. Time to ask those folks, I guess. Thanks again! Ilya Johanna Koski wrote in message ... I think that the one who doens't label the yarn with merino, and only puts wool in it, is a fool. I mean, merino is bit expensive than normal wool and it sells better. Johanna |

Most mfgs are proud of their Merino yarn and brag on the fact.
Merino comes in varying grades, however. Even coarse Merino is pretty fine compared to say, Lincoln or even Wensleydale.
