Story of a Hug Quilt

I thought I would pass this Story on.

Let me catch up all up to date,
As many of you know.. I had a accident last spring, what I wasn't sure If I
would be still here now.with a very long recovery time, and many set backs,
reflecting back in time, I received a Hug quilt at my time of need, a Hug
Quilt that was made from this very group,of loving caring people whom I have
never met. Which has touched my life in more ways then one, When I needed a
Hug more then any time.
With all the drama in my life that has unfolded within the last few years, I
have reached for my hug quilt many times,
After My MIL's death in Dec, Papa was taking it kinda of hard, and the
groups quilt was talking out as they do to many of us here, as I took the
quilt over to a man that needed a hug more then ever,
I sat down with him and said This is my hug quilt papa, and let me explain
what this does,
It is a quilt like no other you have even seen, your wrapped up in so much
love, from people all over the world, take a look at this block, each stitch
is a stitch made with love and care,
here is a block that came all the way from Australia, made by a lady only
known as " Sharon" and this one, made by a person whose name is Merry, from
TX"
This Quilt is more then a Quilt, It is a hug quilt with prayers and well
wishes , tears welled up in his eyes, and he hugged the quilt a little
harder.
This Quilt hugged and cared for him 7 more months, throughout that winter,
and into the summer when he blood was still thin. He used the quilt every
day, since his blood was thin, he got a few drops of his blood on the back
side of the quilt, I now view this as a blessing.

A week ago, while he was still in the hospital, before his passing I went
over and got the quilt I made him and picked up the Hug Quilt, It has hugged
me this week and last night,
The Hug Quilt is not only a Quilt of hugs from other Quilts, but now I
receive a hug from Papa.My FIl who is no longer here.
I can still see how he lovely looked at the quilt.




Not only did this group hug me in my time of need, but it is also helping
someone else

Oh, now you made me cry. A quilt is the best image of a life that I can
think of: made up of lots of pieces, but the whole is greater than the sum
of its parts.

I guess you forgot sometimes just what a Hug quit can do for others, I know
how much the quilt means to me, and I hated to give it up, but what the Hug
quilt did for me was so wonderful and so uplifting, knowing this, It was
something that would be light weight for him to move around, a warm at the
same time, and being the perfect size,
The Hug Quilt not only hugged me but pa ( FIL whom I have always called Pa)
and is now hugging me once again.

to each of you that have come to know me in the past 2 years, know I speak
from my heart.


I only gave a few examples of the names I named off to pa, as I did sit
there and read off each name on the blocks.. I did not finish that, as I am
a bad speller and now the names are very hard to read..
