Default How Difficult is Quilting?

Hello,

I've always been interested in trying to learn how to quilt but I'm not good at
similar things. Do you need to have a knack for sewing or knitting or anything
to learn how to quilt well?

Thanks,

Cindy

Quilting is fairly easy. Just layer two pieces of fabric with one
piece of batting in the middle and sew or tie through all the layers
so they stay together. Nothing says you have to start with tiny
pieces sewn into blocks, you can use large pieces of fabric instead.

A knack for sewing isn't necessary for beginners. If you can sew a
button onto something then you can tie a quilt. If you can hem a pair
of pants then you can bind the quilt edges. If you can trace out a
line and sew (mostly) along it, then you can quilt "stitch in the
ditch" or drawn quilting motifs. You will find your sewing skills
improve as you work on your quilt whether you work by hand or use a
sewing machine.

Get yourself some library books to learn how to quilt. Start with two
pieces of cloth and batting and make a whole cloth baby quilt, quilted
placemats, a quilted afghan sized throw, or anything else small you
can think up. When you are done with the first small project you will
know if you want to learn more or if you don't enjoy it.
