Not if.

The news is not about my Grandma, she's gone into a hospice. The
cancer has spread to her liver and stomach and ahe's in a bit of pain
as the morphine isn't being absorbed properly so the docs are putting
in some sort of pump. The registrar at the hospice was talking to my
parents, they visited her this afternoon, and he is amazed Grandma has
lasted as long as she has - the cancer she has is an aggresive one.
I'll be seeing her with DM and DS sometime over the weekend.

Mom had one of the morphine pumps and it helped a lot. They still
chased the pain, but it helped.
I'm glad you can visit her. It is such a difficult time. My heart
goes out to you all.
Hugs, Taria

Prayers that her remaining hours are as painless as possible. Also prayers for your entire family.
This must be a difficult time.

The pump is good -- as it will allow her to continue to add medication until the pain is hidden.
Sadly -- usually when a patient needs large amounts of meds to alleviate the pain -- they often
spend their hours asleep as well. Value the moments when she is alert... I'm sure she knows how
much she is loved.

Many Prayers for your Grandmother.
Grandma's are such a blessing in a person's life. I have had reason to
ponder this in the last couple of years Now is the time to let grandma
know what kind of a difference she made to your life.
My grandma was never too crazy about kids. I do remember though that she
made me my first quilt. It had lavender squares with sunbonnet sue on
alternating squares, similar to the one I made my grandaughter. She made it
on her singer that she bought in the early 50s. She always bragged that she
had a lifetime guarantee on that sewing machine. I can remember at about
age 5 getting on the city bus with grandma and riding all the way to
downtown Portland and going to Newberries. It was a huge (or it seemed to
me) five and dime. I will never forget that day. I even had some of my own
money, for maybe the first time. I still collect teapots, she gave me my
first. I wish I could tell my grandma all of this, but she does not
remember me now.
It would make a difference to me to know my grandkids remember what I did
for them or how what I have done might have shaped them a little
differently.
Just a thought.

It is. She is my last remaining grandparent, the only one to become a
great-grandparent. We were closer to mum's parents than dad's, partly
because they lived closer, within 1/2 hour drive, and partly because
they were always more openly affectionate. When grandpa passed I was
'buffered by hormones' even if I didn't know at the time.

Thanks to all, I feel the love.
