Finishing a bell pull
Need some help to finish off a bell pull using hardware to hang it on
the wall. I have the back and facing cut the same as the stitching. However if I stitch it all together, how/when do I create the opening needed to slide the hardware in the top? Claire |

However if I stitch it all together, how/when do I create the opening
needed to slide the hardware in the top? You should make a casing like the top of a curtain. Decide where the top and bottom should be and I put a pin in there. Stitch the needlework to the backing with both fronts facing eachother. Stitch only the sides, leaving both ends open if you are using hardware on the bottom as well as the top. If you are using hardware only on the top, stitch one side, across the bottom (where you want the bottom to be on the finished pull) and then up the other side. If you want a pointed bottom rather than a square, mark that on the fabric before you stitch. Turn the bell pull so stitched side is out. Now you will want to make the tunnel for the hardware. For the top, turn the fabric to the back on the line for the top. Turn the end of the fabric under and hand tack to the backing of the bell pull. If you are going to use hardware on the bottom, of course you will do the same thing. I like to use cording at the edge. That can be stitched in when the front is stitched to the back. Hope this helps. If you have any questions, just e-mail me. Boo |

I copied down the info given and printed it. I got it now, so it is
time to try it out. Thanks much for everyone's help. Claire (Boohoo1971) wrote in message ... However if I stitch it all together, how/when do I create the opening needed to slide the hardware in the top? You should make a casing like the top of a curtain. |
