Default Miniature Ivy?

Has anyone ever put a bunch of ivy on the outside of a house? My
searches of most sites turned up wallpaper with ivy patterns or potted
plants, not long vines.

I thought about using dark green wire, but getting tiny leaves to
stick to it seemed like a pain.

The flower artisans stick teeny, tiny leaves and petals to wire. I've had
to repair some flowers and have had to deal with it. I use sharp pronged
forceps and Super glue gel. Apply the gel with a toothpick. It's very
tedious work.

Hey!

I printed off scaled sizes of Virginia creeper leaves, and cut them all out
by hand. The same thing i did for the ivy.
I then made the stems and stalks by coating cotton in polyfilla and pva
solution.

Then I glues the leaves on. tedious, but it looks pretty good imho. I tend
to make whatever I can. Can post pictures I suppose if you want to see the
effect?

Yes, I'd love to see pictures. The effect I'm trying to create is an
ivy-covered house. I've found strands of "miniature" ivy at michaels,
but it's wildly out of scale (imagine ivy leaves 12" across). I'm
thinking of using it, and then hand trimming the leaves to a size less
out of scale (still on the big side, but not ridiculously so). The
stems will be a bit thick, but I think it'll still look nice. We'll
see.

Thats why I use the tape trick... it last practically forever, and you'd
have to pull pretty hard to tear it off the wire.

Oh curse!!! I was just to a train show (full scale, not model). One
guy there had a bunch of ticket punches and one of them was from a
Grand Trunk, GT Western, or Canadian National conductor, that punched
tickets with the shape of a maple leaf. Perfect size for 1" scale ivy
leaves, if I had just thought of it. I wonder if he will have it next
year.
