Default Printing on glass

Help!

This is a little off topic. Does anyone out there know of a portable
printer that can print to glass. The glass would need to be optical
quality. The image would need to be heat and UV resistant.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

best bet may be to use silk screen. Mix powdered glass (available from glass
blowers suppliers) with whatever medium works best such as gum arabic, and
squeegee onto glass through the screen. It works pretty well for me. You can
use special photo sensitive films to create the screens. Then use a kiln to
'cook'(fuse) the powdered glass onto the glass. m

Not off topic at all. What is it that you would want to print to the
glass? Would it be the same thing over and over like a trade mark or
emblem? If not, "portable" is probably going to be a problem. How big?
Could it be acid etched or does it need to be a pigment? More info would
help.

a possible : Easymark has an alcohol based non-contact inkjet printer
for marking glass model EL-KT-727

Large Character Inkjet Printer (Marking Machine)

screen printing might be the better bet since it would allow you to
deliver a UV / heat resistant ink

might be worth reading : (free registration)

google "print on glass" with the quotes for more

good luck

Specialty advertising firms print logos and the like on just about any kind
and shape of surface. I think they call one of the machines a "pad
printer", that's what they use to print logos on golf balls.

Exactly what do you mean by "optical quality" glass? Are you talking about
the glass that would be used in photographic applications or in astronomy?

Maybe a bit more specific information from you would help us to help you
with the problem.
