creating water i.e. fish bowl / pond
I would love to create my own goldfish bowl or even garden pond.
I am happy to find plastic top / lid for the bowl but I want to fill it up (about 3/4 full) with something the will dry hard but clear to simulate water. Also any ideas for fish Thanks again C x |

Kathy, perhaps you know, I have forgotten, is polymer clay compatible with
epoxy resins? If not then the glass figures is the way to go. I hope you do make your fish bowl. Id love to see pictures! Diana -- Vote this November (U.S.A.) Most likely, it would be fish beads, and the cheesy Indian ones would work pretty well - they're not durable, but surrounded by plastic they should be okay. The gorgeous Peruvian clay beads would be several steps up in quality, but I don't think I'd want to do that for a first try - beads that cost $3 apiece are too expensive for experiments, IMO. For resin, I saw this site the other day, and it looks seriously cool: http://www.delviesplastics.com/casting_resin.htm I'm considering buying from them as well, and making a Kathy N-V style aquarium - the kind with gorillas, fish, and volkswagens hiding out in the ocean. For some reason the clear gel candle wax leaps into my mind. Don't know how
hard it gets tho. -- Connie Ryman Cryman Studio "C A . Butler" wrote in message ... I would love to create my own goldfish bowl or even garden pond. Also any ideas for fish Thanks again C x Since no one else has suggested this: Wal-Mart used to have a faux-water acrylic for floral arranging. It's two-part like epoxy, just a lot thinner and clearer, and hardens permanently. I've seen it in some craft stores, but I'd assume Wal-Mart would be cheaper. I think it was either an 8-oz or a pint package, not sure. Craft stores also carry a re-softenable faux-water, so you don't permanently glue your flowers into a vase. You resoften it with heat, I believe. Something to check out. It sounds to me like the permanent one would work better, though. |
