Default Pearls Strung On Ribbon

Hi,
I've seen pearls strung on thin organdy ribbon and would like to make a
similar necklace but can't figure out how to get the ribbon through the
small hole of the pearl.

Anyone know how this is done ?
Thanks !

actually, I've been wondering about that too! it looks like one of those
optical illusions but I'm sure there's a secret to it.

You mean they don't just carefully line up
some oysters and place a ribbon into them with a grain of sand?? Wow..I'd like
to know the answer to this too! *grins*

I have had friends make these (never had the patience myself) and what they did
was to use a pearl reamer till the hole was big enough to take a silk ribbon on
a needle!

Sounds like carpal tunnel waiting to happen to me....

The way I learned to do it was to get some sort of medium like "fray
check", put a couple of drops on your fingers and then twist the end of
the ribbon between them until it forms a stiff needle-like thing. Keep
twisting the fray check part of the ribbon until it is as thin as you can
get it, let it dry and then string on the beads. Once all the beads are
strung, cut of the fray-checked part of the ribbon and continue with the
necklace design.

I have not tried this with pearls, but I have done it using beads with
small holes.

Fray check can be found in craft and fabric stores and is pretty cheap for
a big bottle.

OH WOW!!!! I am gonna do it with pearls and then Swarovski!!!

I have 2 awesome Tink beads (actually, 1 bead, 1 vessel. Actually, I
have more, but these are the 2 I am currently stewing over) I
currently have the vessel strung on an antique white sheer silk
ribbon. I was looking at it today and thinking about wanting to add
pearls. Someone had shown me a necklace like that (except THEY
didn't have an AWESOME Tink Bead)
