Ok, now, just how many of us are owned by Shelties?
so far I count Noreen, Jenn and me. Anyone else?

LOL, I'm owned by some of the barenakedest dogs out there!
Greyhounds. Which means I'd better get knitting 'cos I had the
audacity to move them from Southern California to Washinton state.
They are going to need coats and leg warmers!!

How funny if I made them coats out of Sheltie fur yarn?

I just had the funniest image of a dog going bonkers sniffing himself
because of a sweater made from dog hair!

I'm owned by a Beagle - which could explain the sniffing image :P Does
anyone else have a beagle?

Slinky learnt with a drop spindle Noreen, she will help you I am sure...I
can do it, but never really got into it, as I had a wheel....

Well now that you have me intrigued, what is the matter with the wheel of
yours???
Cheers......Cher

spinning your own lace weight yarn by Christmas...

Cheers....Cher

Oh gosh... by Christmas? I'd better get a move on after this weekend and
get some fleece and start with a drop spindle.... my wheel needs some
TLC....
another story for another time.

Noreen

It's been in storage for quite awhile, and the move from Wisconsin to
Tennessee caused some things to loosen. Don's a woodworker/carpenter by
trade, and has promised to take it apart and put it all back together for
me. As long as it's apart, I want to refinish it too.... can't stand that
orange-y shellac-y colour.... I like medium oak finishes...
Will write more later.... getting ready for this town-wide yard-sale....
Hugs,
Noreen

I got my wheel flat pack from NZ which was a good thing because I had to
learn how to put it together. I just rubbed beeswax into the wood and it
is now a lovely honey colour

Me too Ophelia, the one I had, was in a skip, chucked out,and the previous
owner had tried to varnish it,and had dripped it everywhere.......ugh....so
first some wire wool, scrubbed it down, wetted cloth and wiped all over it,
then let that thoroughly dry the next day I painted it with a good linseed
oil, let that soak in, in the air but in the shade, then that night I did
the same, the next morning, it looked healthier and thankful for it's drink,
then next two evenings I beeswaxed it......brilliant. Now I do it when I
feel like it.

There are some housecleaning pages out there somewhere that should help
Noreen. If someone knows the url, please post it...It may not really need
taking apart, but it can be done. I did this to mine, before I even knew
much about spinning.

Cheers.....Cher
