Default "Fairy Pin Cushions" & RSI site update

I hope that everyone enjoyed the summer and that you're all keeping
well. If you have a moment, I'd just like to invite you to drop by and
see some updated information on my site.
http://www.lynnenicoletti.com/whatsnext.html. There are directions for
making little 'Fairy Pin Cushions' (my husband and I gathered sea shells
on our holiday this year and these were the result of a lazy afternoon).
There's also a design diary for Neptune/Poseidon that explains how this
design evolved; news of 2 new designs and, most importantly, a new page,
http://www.lynnenicoletti.com/dequervainstips.html , that offers several
helpful tips to those who are dealing with De Quervain's Tendonitis (or
other RSIs). If you don't mind, I'd also like to ask a favour. would
you please let me know of any additional hints that you have for coping
with Tendinitis? I'd love to be able to pass them on to others. Thank
you very much for your time. have a great afternoon, Lynne Nicoletti

Oh, Lynne. They are darling!!! If I had known you were working on
pincushions, I'd have contacted you. Such neat "things" to have around,
so many ways to do them. What a clever notion!!

Thank you very much for taking time out of your busy days to read about
these little pin cushions. I'm very glad to hear that you enjoyed them
and that the directions could be easily followed, Joan.
We don't have any cats, Fran, but we do have a lovely, big dog... who
would, no doubt, swallow a dozen of these as an appetizer if she ever
got hold of them. After all, we caught her in the nick of time when she
was about to crunch down into an empty mussel-shell a couple of weeks
ago!
I'm sorry, Dianne, I never thought to tell you about the cushions...
they were really a spur-of-the-moment thing. Those "home organization"
shows on TV get to me sometimes and then I feel the need to justify my
little collections... rocks, beads, glitter pens, gel pens, ribbons,
buttons, packing labels, coloured wire... you know what I mean! Reading
about Lula's beautifully creative ways of using things that she
collected 'just because' inspired me to actually DO something with some
of those shells. I wonder how her harlequin/moon face piece and Madame
La Zora are coming along?

Hello Lynne,

Your shell pincushions are charming and such a clever idea! Also took a
look at your designs and they're wonderful originals.....I liked the
fairy tales the best!

I got the new fabrics for Madame La Zora cut out in the wee hours this
morning......my original background was "dumped" in favor of a new more
exciting fabric I just found.......this meant a complete change of
colors of all the fabrics I had originally planned!

Not a problem as I recalled a stack of golden print fabrics that were
set aside for the Madame La Mora the belly dancer that now looks great
on the new blue, turquoise background fabric instead of the original
purple "passion" colors!
I've discovered, nothing is done until it's done and even then I've been
known to cut things apart and re-do with new colors and all! Overall, I
love the unexpected adventure of working with serendipity as a creative
partner in designing!

Well, then made a simple mistake, while using freezer paper forgetting
to reverse the design elements and now have to make a whole group of
unexpected adjustments!
Fortunately, there's a lot of room for adjusting the cut fabrics with
hiding a few uneven seams and such with the use of embellishments and
embroidered touches.

Too bad I must set Madame aside once again and get back to painting and
working on the "trunk" show for my Houston trip.

Hi Lula,
It's nice to hear from you. I'm glad you liked the pin cushions and
thank you very much for wandering about my site. I admire your art and
your compliments are much appreciated.
So, Madame La Zora's leading you down a new path! It sounds like she's
tempering her passionate side a little and becoming more mysterious and
exotic. What a shame about the pattern reversal... thank goodness
you'll be able to disguise the problem with embellishments (I'm sure she
won't mind a few extra 'jewels' here and there).
It's amazing, isn't it, that no matter how far along a design might be,
it remains fluid right up to the very end. Of course, it can be quite
frustrating too. Sometimes, just when you think it's all done,
something new will enter the realm of possibilities. Unexpected
inspiration in the shapes formed by a silhouette or seen in a piece of
driftwood; the gleam off a door-knob; the palette presented in a
magazine page... they all conspire to propel us in another direction and
find out "what happens if... ".
Have a great weekend, Lula, and all the best with your Houston trip.

I love your Fairy Pin Cushions - I may have to make some. Do you plan to
leave the directions on your website, or should I save it on my computer
so I don't lose them? By the way, I'm immersed in the Bluenose Dime
right now. I'm enjoying it greatly (can't wait to finish the grey/silver
and move on to another colour :- ) and am stitching it instead of doing
homework.

Hi Rachel, I'm sorry to have, seemingly, overlooked your message... it
doesn't appear on my computer and I've just noticed it on our son's machine
(he uses a different server).
I'm glad you liked the Fairy Pin Cushions, and don't worry, I plan on
leaving the instructions up for a while at least. It's great to know that
you're enjoying the Bluenose Dime and I can definitely relate to stitching
instead of doing homework... or vacuuming... or laundry... or grocery
shopping... or raking leaves... or...

LOL! I can certainly relate to you!!! Any form of handicraft, reading,
bird-watching, or anything that keeps me away from any of the things you
mention does it for me!

I`ve just come in from planting some bulbs which have been glaring at me for
a few weeks. I leave them near the front door so I can`t miss them, but I
STILL procrastinate. I love the flowers, am a compulsive buyer of Spring
bulbs, but hate planting them. Can`t bend down for too long, in any case.
My mind is in my twenties, but the body is DEFINITELY heading for seventy!
John isn`t really up to it either although that reminds me - GOOD NEWS! We
saw his cardiologist yesterday and she`s signed him off - says she`s
extremely pleased with his progress, and he`s as fit as he can expect for
72!!! It`s been a long, scary year, but he`s taking the dogs out every day
now, and has just doubled the distance. We have two-way radios, but he
usually "forgets" to take it, which makes me mad - and means if he takes
longer than usual I`m out looking for him!
