I got the same "newsletter" and followed it and took a look at the site...It
originates in the U.K. seems to be based on Ebay but for crafts....
registered and will keep an eye on it...seemed on the up and up to me...I
guess only time will tell...

I looked at the site, too, and while the organization may be
on the up and up, the unwanted e-mail is still spam. I'm not
able to get the headers on my antiquated e-mail system, or
I would send an abuse complaint to ArtyandCrafty's ISP.
I hope they're reading this newsgroup and can see that unwanted
e-mail is just that....UNWANTED!

I agree that this is spam and that they sucked the address from RCTN.
The only message that I sent to any group using DH's computer, after
the hurricane knocked out my ISP, was to here. Today this same
advertisement was sent to his address. I think that harvesting address
from newsgroups is unethical and wouldn't consider doing business with
any company that does this.

I would say that this sentence, at the beginning of their email, was
deceptive. "You were recommended to us as someone that could be
interested in our Online Art and Craft Services."......I wonder who
did the recommending!

Spammers always say that.

"A friend of yours said you might be interested in our product."

"I saw your website and thought you'd be interested in..."

"You are receiving this because you signed up for it at some web site."

And, of course, the universal spammer lie:

On principle, I refuse to do any sort of business with people who spam
me. Even if they're selling something I've been trying to find.

Me too. I also won't buy from telemarketers or door-to-door salesmen
(with the exception of neighborhood kids doing school fundraisers). I
don't want to support these intrusive, discourteous forms of marketing.
