I just had to share this. I have been given the opportunity to be a
test knitter for The Alpaca Yarn Company. I will be knitting the
ballerina top, Pattern PT86 found he
http://www.thealpacayarnco.com/New%20Patterns.htm
I have requested colour # 1625 (Icicle), and will give the finished
product to my DD Vanessa, as it is just a bit too "young" for me. g

Katherine: that sounds like fun. I love the patterns. I remember
Otto's mother knitting something like that for the girls when they
were teen agers. Cute. I love the PT85 delicate drapes pattern. I
have book marked the website

It is a nice website, isn't it? The only problem I had with the
delicate drapes pattern was that I figured it was pinned onto the
model's bosom, and would likely fall down more than it would stay
up, thus looking sloppy.

Higs,
Katherine

Katherine that is a very good point, I wondered about that as well.
Being well endowed, it is a good point to remember. We have several
very clever knitters in our Guild. Peopel who look at a pattern and
make the changes and copies without ever using a pattern. They make
the adjustments while knitting. Sometimes ripping all the knitting
out again. But always getting there in the end. I do not have the
patience to do that. So is nice when someone else gets the ideas and
helps you out.

Good for them! We could use a bit more determination here, I think.

Higs,
Katherine

The purpose is to test a pattern rather than the yarn. I knit it up,
following their pattern, and critique the pattern. I keep the top as
payment for making sure that the pattern is acceptable for general use.
I am really looking forward to doing this.

Katherine

Hi Katherine,

Just how does the Test Knitter work? I assume they provide the yarn,
you knit the top - and then what ? Do you just give your opinion on
the yarn, or do you have to send the finished garment back to them so
they can see how it works up?

Curious in Connecticut, waiting for snow,

Rusty

Thanks, Aud. I was speaking to Beth Lutz today (the lady who organizes test
knitting) and she told me that the parcel is in the mail. SO I'll be
watching for it.

Katherine
