The new lampwork from China.......
While reading the new Lampworketc.com forum I caught this in the 'Garage
Sale' section of the forum. http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1347 'Lead glass beads'.... I wonder what will happen when they get their hands on a lentil press? -Su -- Tillerman Beads on eBay: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZthetillermanbeads Tillerman Beads on JustBeads: http://www.justbeads.com/search/ql.cfm?s=tillermanbeads Tillerman Beads website: http://www.tillerman.co.uk Sign up for our newsletter for news and upcoming drawings for beads from the Tillerman |

Wow - pretty interesting thread. It's kind of surreal to actually see some
responses from a Chinese bead factory owner - they've always seemed so.....far away. Seeing one of them post really changes my perspective. I'm very interested in their views. Unfortunately, a couple of people in that thread have already exhibited some intolerance, just slamming the guy without listening to his views. He seems pretty open to people's opinions, and genuinely seems interested in safety and ventilation issues. His English isn't wonderful, but I think I understand most of what he's saying. And I love that he provided some pictures. It's a beginning - communication between the different types of bead manufacturers can lead to good things. -- Kandice Seeber www.lampwork.net "Su/Cutworks" wrote in message ... If he's genuine and making an effort to learn and provide good working conditions for his people then he has a chance to get help with promotion through such groups as Fair Trade and others and it will be a valuable marketing issue too. Time will tell but he seems eager to learn. -Su |

That's too bad it was pulled, I wonder what possible reason they had for doing that? I thought a couple of you were starting to get through to the guy and he sounded genuine about making some changes. I thought it was fantastic that you had taken the time to explain things to him. It would have been a wonderful opportunity to do some safety teaching! |

Hey there, I think I know why it got pulled! The guy was using someone
else's studio pictures for his website! Maybe he's not so genuine? |

It was an interesting setup though, unless someone has a studio the size of a football field. I thought the shelves stacked with huge sacks of beads looked very intriguing. -Su -- ..sig lite: http://www.tillermanbeads.co.uk All roads lead to beads.
