Default Furry glaze anyone?

This is a question from the forum on http://www.ukpotters.co.uk
Actual message is at
http://www.ukpotters.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17

Hannaht asks "hi there im trying to figure out how to make my ceramics
have a glaze that is quite soft and almost furry, i know that sounds
strange but is there a way?"

If I had an area of expertise this would definitely be outside it!
Anyone got any suggestions?

There is a "velvet" type of effect used for raku firings. While I have not
done it myself, I have seen the results.
It does look soft but obviously does not feel soft.
The only book I have seen this process referred to is:

The Potters Guide to Ceramic Effects, by Jo Connell. ISBN 1-86155-608 X

Hope this helps
Hugh, Hamilton, New Zealand.
