Default Air Show

We have an "air show" every day. We are in the flight path for the Naval
Air Station so planes all the time. The Blue Angels come to our base every
other year. This year only military pass people were allowed on to the base
since the war was either going on or getting started. THe neat thing is
that the Angels fly over the bays and you can sit on the water edge and get
a great view. The down side is being where we are three days of Angels
overhead drives you up a wall. We left for one day just to get away from
the noise.

The annual air show is back this weekend. Since this is the 100th

anniversary
of flight, and this being Dayton, this year's show is a biggie.

John Travolta is in town flying his own jet, the Thunderbirds, Blue

Angles, AND
the Canadian Snowbirds are here too. A rare occasion for all three to be

in one
place at the same time.

Usually, it's beyond hot for the show weekend. And I mean hot. And usually

to
see the show, you pay out the nose (it isn't actually that bad), stand in

a
field at the airport, and squint to see what's going on.

This year is different. It's not hot, and being so close to the airport,

we can
just stand outside and watch the planes go over when they turn around.

Yesterday, the Angles came in, and I guess they decided to practice a bit.

I
tell ya, It was pretty cool to watch. Being that the town is uphill from

the
airport, the planes are closer that if you were watching at the show. And

are
they *loud* !!

Standing in the driveway, #2 Angel flys over, and I swear, if I had been

on the
roof, I could have skook hands with the pilot. He was low enough to see if

he
were to wave. Then 4 of them flew over in formation. Pretty cool. I'm

waiting
on the others to fly over. Maybe they won't come out this far. shrug

I dunno, I thought it was pretty cool. For a long time I wanted to be a

Navy
pilot and fly those big jets.

Damn right I'm good in bed. I can sleep for days.
