Default Gold and White Fabric Bowl Question

Just got a request for two fabric bowls in a white/gold color scheme. I've
already got the fabric (fancy that!) but am puzzled as to what thread to use.
There is no way on this planet that I'd be able to do that much satin stitching
with the metallic sliver thread that I've got and maintain any semblance of
sanity.

Anyone have any suggestions for thread for this project? A better metallic?
Another color?

How about a rayon thread? Shinier than cotton but easier to use (and less
expensive) than metallic. Maybe a slightly heavier weight than you usually use too.
My fabric bowls' edges looked less skimpy and fuller/richer when I switched to a
heavier thread. Haven't tried rayon myself yet but may for the next go 'round.

I did one in similar colours/fabrics that even had metallic threads in the
fabric and used a normal cotton/poly thread in "as gold as I could find". It
looked great actually.

Joan, Just use a regular thread in a golden color, as
Allyson mentioned. You could do some stippling with metallic
thread; then, maybe add a bit of top stitching to the upper
edge. PAT

I use rayon on fabric bowls. It glides through the needle like a dream,
and makes a nice sheen on the bowl edges. Comes in lots of golds,
silvers, and other colors. Nancycog in MD (Who is ready to make some

I use the Rayon thread too. I bought the large spools and only use this for
the bowls and boxes. They look great and sew effortlessly.

How about one of the variegated threads - they're gorgeous - and I'm sure
there's a white/gold mix available. Just a thought.

See if your machine will let you double up: try a regular cotton plus a
rayon (or even a metallic) threaded together. Don't be too cheap with your
cotton thread -look for a nice shiny long staple mercerized.
I have not tried this with cotton, but metallic and rayon worked just fine
in my Pfaff threaded with invisible.
