Polymer question
Okay, here's the deal. Dh is getting involved! He is getting into polymer
clay big time, all kinds of great ideas, he just has to work with them. Dang, this bead stuff is contagious! Anyway, he has a question. How do you transfer a xeroxed copy of something to a piece of clay? He went out and got a big block of white sculpey to practice with. He loves carving and wants to transfer a pattern to the clay. He tried putting the copy on the clay and rubbing with no results. Is there some deep secret? Thanks, Jan |

Thanks, Jan While I haven't tried the technique myself, what I've read indicates that you have to use specific types of printers and/or paper. Inkjet printers don't produce a transfer. Here is an article on using gin to encourage transfer: http://www.aisling.net/library/polyclay/polyclaygin.htm Here is a page with examples and information on Lazertran Silk, a special type of transfer paper. http://www.lazertran.com/polymerclay.htm Lindsey Thanks so much. We made a special trip to Staples today to get the pattern xeroxed. We have 3 printers here but they are all ink jets. This should get him started but I feel like he will be making a run to the state store, he refuses to use his Tanqueray! He has success with tracing the figure with a carpenter's pencil, that transferred but was a pain. Jan |

On GlassAttic there are instructions on using inkjet copies...
If you will be selling this stuff, make sure the images are copyright free or free use. :-) Barbara |

Most of it he wants to use are traditional knotwork. But thanks for the reminder for his other things. He is a professional muscian and very careful of any copyright infringement of music but I will remind him of the other stuff. Jan |
