Go to Home Depot or other hardware store. Somewhere in there are skinny
pieces of copper (?) or other silver-colored metal bars - very skinny - that come in various widths. I don't have a clue what they are for and I don't have a clue where to look for them, but they are there. DH got me a 1/4" piece about a foot long after DS#1 ruined my bias bar. DG used his drimmel tool to smooth down the cut edges on either end. Instant bias bar. It didn't cost $1, I don't think. I wish he'd made two - one to use while the other one cools down. -- Teresa in Colorado http://home.comcast.net/~treesaquilts Berthoud Outdoor Quilt Show - June 11, 2005 in Berthoud, Colorado The Presser Foot in Longmont and Fort Collins, Colorado www.thepresserfoot.com - the black rose wrote: Celtic knotwork quilt: Everything that I could possibly cut, is cut. And I do mean everything. Everything that I could possibly sew, is sewn. This includes all the garden maze sashing and sash squares. Everything that I could possibly mark, is marked. I can't do anything else until I get those blankety-blank bias press bars, which are stubbornly refusing to arrive at the quilt shop. I mean really, doesn't the distributor know how important that shop is? She should get all her orders first! Now what to do, what to do.... I thought this would keep me busy long enough that I didn't have any other projects in the queue. *sigh* *drums fingers* |

My set came from Wal-mart. They are made of that special plastic that
doesn't melt from the heat of your iron. -- http://community.webshots.com/user/snigdibbly SNIGDIBBLY ~e~ " / \ http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/snigdibbly. http://www.ebaystores.com/snigdibbly...ox&refid=store "the black rose" wrote in message ... Cuz those things hate me. Seriously. I've tried them. They refuse to work for me. JoAnn's *used* to sell bias press bars. I know they did, because that's where I bought the ones I now can't find, lo those many years ago. -- the black rose http://community.webshots.com/user/blackrosequilts -------- __o ----- -\. -------- __o --- ( )/ ( ) ---- -\. -------------------- ( )/ ( ) ----------------------------------------- |

You take your bias strips, fold them in half wrong side together, and sew a 1/8-inch seam. Then you insert the press bar into the little tube you just made and press the seam underneath. Inch the bar along inside the tube and keep pressing the entire length. Voila, bias tape, super easy. I got mine in the electical department at home depot. They are
unmeltable plastic used by electricians to tie off wiring. Linda PATCHogue, NY On Sat, 16 Apr 2005 00:22:50 -0500, "SNIGDIBBLY" wrote: My set came from Wal-mart. They are made of that special plastic that doesn't melt from the heat of your iron. |
