Well, exactly like the subject line says --

What is your favorite color to put in a quilt?

I haven't actually done one yet but I'm collecting starred fabrics for
a quilt for mine and David's bed -- I frequently refer to it as our
wedding quilt because it will have bits of fabric in it from our
wedding. I made one of the bridesmaids dresses, mom made her own
dress, my dress had to be adjusted at a fitting, we used fabric to line
the bread baskets, etc.

Anyone who has gotten a hug block from me (Karen and MeSue's blocks are
probably the exceptions -- I didn't know about the fabric then) has
gotten a bit of my favorite fabric in it (kind of like the Sairey
stripe thing) -- the pasteled sparkly one -- it is a nursery print but
I love it anyway and I think my husband is more in love with it than I
am actually. Haven't been able to find it for a while now but
thankfully I still have some of it. I just hope that if a nursery
becomes necessary that I'll be able to find enough of it to do the
decorating in there.

On the topic of my "wedding quilt" which will actually be done in the
log cabin block format -- I've got a lot of variety of starred fabrics
in several colors -- now, what do I use to off set them so it's not so
busy that I get vertigo looking at it? I'm leaning toward the Moda
Marbles but don't know if I *should* have something else as well, like
something more solid or whatnot. Any ideas?

I may not be able to afford to get the fabric and actually create just
yet (should in a few months or so if I get the job I just applied for),
but I can certainly dream and plan ...

Hmmmm this is really a difficult question. Seriously, I'm serious! LOL.
So many of my fabrics are favourites but because I am not the prolific
quilter that some of y'all are - I haven't used many of them in quilts.
Does that make sense?

I'm collecting blues and greens to make a blue green scrappy "star" quilt -
that's my one day quilt. When I'm old and decreipt and am actually allowed
to retire and have some me time. Plus there are the Japanese fabrics that
seem to work there way into my stash in varying sizes. Some of those
gorgeous things have been used in the hearts and 9-patch quilt which was to
go to RMcD house but ended up in the US somewhere with a Katrina survivor.

Hmmm can't say fairer than - all of my fabric is my favourite at one time or
another!

Replying to myself here. You actually said colour didn't you? Gosh, talk
about a seniour/blonde moment. Blame it on the playdate occuring in the
house as I speak - 3 x 8 year old girls and 1 x 6 year old wanna be 8!

Colour. I would have to say. Gulp. Pink. Varying shades and hues but it
seems to be my most predominantly used colour, which would have to make it a
favourite, wouldn't it? I kinda do like it. yep.

Depends on the purpose, but my most used colour - and one I do love
almost anywhere! - is cream.

I seem to have a habit of putting in a punch of gold somewhere in my quilts.

Well, I love chartreuse and think it is a great screaming neutral. And a
blue and yellow quilt will always make my heart sing.

But I don't have any one fabric that goes into a quilt. I put in whatever
the quilt asks for, even (OH HORROR) orange if it really really begs.

There is nothing wrong with orange! I currently am using a marbley orange
for a baby quilt for my friend. She is having a boy, and so I am making him
a sports quilt with football & baseball fabrics, paired with orange &
yellow. Very bright, very boy-ish.
Back to topic at hand, LOL
I seem to use a lot of purples, blues, and greens. I am trying to branch
out, I.E. the orange. LOL
