"While most would call them athletic supporters, John Mangiapane calls
them contemporary art.....
"Mangiapane is one of about a dozen artists displaying work as part of
a multi-media Gay and Bisexual Men’s Art Exhibit in recognition of Gay
Pride Month.
The centerpiece of Mangiapane’s display is a 9-by-6-foot quilt with a
non-traditional unifying theme — jock straps.
"Believe or not, Mangiapane, of Chesterfield, was not the first to sew
jock straps to a quilt — his inspiration was across his bed at a bed
and breakfast he stayed at two years ago in Newfane,
Vt. .....Mangiapane, who has won awards for his more traditional
quilts, saw it as a challenge. 'I said, "No, I can do this better,”
'he said. 'I knew I could take it to another level.'"

Darn, I wish it would be on display about 3 weeks later than the show. I'll
be in that area--I hope. I grew up close to there, and would like to see
the display.
