Default Opinions Please...

Hi Everyone!
I have been thinking for a while that I might like to do a tutorial on my
Seashell Beads. As I'm fairly new to lampworking, I thought it would be the
perfect opportunity to get some exposure for my work. Well, I was feeling
quite bold on Saturday, and shot off some photos of my beads, and a letter
to a well known magazine (not going to tell you which one just yet, so I can
get unbiased opinions...) asking if they would be interested in having me do
a tutorial. This morning I received an eager reply that they would!.....Woo
hoo!......Then I got to wondering...did I pick the right magazine to ask?
Not that I think I could have my pick...but if I could, which would be the
best?
So, this question is kind of for Lampwork Artists, but I will appreciate
opinions from anyone.
If you were going to have a tutorial on lampworked beads published in a
magazine, which would be your first choice, and your second choice if you
have one?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

First of all, congrats!!!!

As for which magazine is best for that kind of thing, well, that
depends upon your target audience. In my case, I would have two
different goals: One to reach lots of potential buyers for my work,
and one to simply reach as many people as possible. And yes, those two
goal can lead to different magazines.

Good luck!

I had mine in Lapidary Journal, which was great. But if I were to have
my first choice, it would be Step By Step Beads. LJ would be my second
choice, because of the kind of readers. I think more lampworkers read Step
By Step. But who knows - they're both great.
I'd love to have something in Beadwork, too.

I'm not going to say which I prefer first but I would be very happy with
Lapidary Journal, Bead and Button, Beadwork or any of their off shoots
(Stringing, Step by Step, etc. Is Bead Unique one?).

I have some pending with Lapidary's Step by Step, by request, and they were
very nice and easy to work with. I contemplated the others and I have to
sit down and figure out their guidelines more....how to save pictures,
colors, etc.

Congratulations!

Yeah, congrats!!!! I have yet to try a seashell bead, can't wait to see a
tutorial.

I agree, Step by Step for lampworkers. For buyers, Bead and Button.

WOW - congratulations!! If I had to choose just one, I guess it would
be Beadwork. BTW, I LOVE your shell beads!

My first choice to benefit other beadmakers would be the ISGB Bead
Release, because it's not-for-profit. My first choice for customer
exposure would be either Beadwork or Bead and Button.

She is extraordinarily talented; I have a set of beads that she made
after only lampworking for SIX WEEKS that's just gorgeous.
