Default Glaze on fire bricks

I wanted to know what kind of damage glaze can do to fire bricks on
the bottom of my kiln. If there is no structural damage to the bricks
or the kiln can I continue to fire with the drops of glaze there? I
never load on the bottom so no wares would be touching it directly.
Thanks for the help.

Hi LMac,

Glaze contains strong fluxes to cause the silica to melt - they also have a
fluxing action on refractory brick.

The glaze drops will continue to melt and cause craters in the brick by
their fluxing action. A bit like the China Syndrome, they will keep melting
away until there is a big crater in the brick.

Dig them out now, and fill the hole with some refractory cement.
