I picked up this toasteroven on sale, extra large capacity. So far, testing
it on "toast" has worked better than "bake" and it seemed to hold it's temp
for 30 min consistanly after the heating element shut off. Of course it was
a good 40 degrees higher than the setting showed LOL hopefully my
thermometor is accurate. I haveing tried baking clay yet.

Does this mean the oven you're using doesn't have temperature settings?
The first toaster oven I got had two settings - toast and bake. The
first time I used it, set on "toast", I got charred little lumps of
useless clay.

Afterwards, I got a Black and Decker with a temp dial. I always set it
for 275 F, check the temp with an oven thermometer about once a month.
The temp is consistent and I've never burned anything. The oven cost
about $40 (maybe $50?) new, at a hardware store.

Good luck with the new oven.
