I just got back from Hancock's, and they have football fabric,
basketball fabric and baseball fabric (plus lots and lots and LOTS of
LSU Tigers fabric) but no hockey fabric. I looked especially.

Greed. They want to keep all the profits for themselves, and only sell
overpriced readymade stuff in the sports shops. I don't follow any kind
of professional athletics, but I can read prices and store stocks.

And I can easily buy nearly every other sports franchise as fabric.


So - why isn't the NHL casting more bread upon the waters, they get a
percentage of what ever sale there is after all.


Maybe Ellice has some insight here.

LOL - the other pro leagues have such lucrative other deals, and do so well
with merchandising that companies wish to buy the rights. I've been working
on and off w/ the CAPS about getting licensing to do a series of stitcher
kind of gifts. It's not trivial. The NHL allows teams to do a certain
amount of "local" specific licensing. Which means a small company, like me,
can work with the local franchise to arrange specific licensing, without
paying the huge license fee that would apply for doing all the teams. It
still involves fees, and percentages. That said, most of the NHL
merchandising is centralized and large companies pay to produce products
that are identical, or close to, for each team.

WRT fabric, it's entirely possible that the mills themselves do not wish to
pay the licensing fee, and sales percentage back. I don't know.

I believe that I have seen some hockey fabric with multiple logos on it.
But, I won't swear to it. I do have a fair stock of hockey generic fabric -
flannel, polar fleece (soon, Cheryl), some cottons, etc. I've cotton hockey
fabric, really cute, at G-Street Fabrics - which is a great, huge, shop.
Much nicer than anything I've seen at JoAnns or Hancock. Anyone shopping
might also try equilter.com, they have a huge supply of fabrics. I haven't
noticed fabric on the NHL team store, and as season tix holders we get a
bunch of mailing from them, their catalog, and from USA Hockey as well.
Personally for hockey memorabilia stuff, we shop River City Sports in
Canada.
