Well now the price of silver has gone through the roof will be be seeing
reasonably workable substitutes like what was known as 'German silver'
turning up[ again in artizan workshops?

Of course the original German silver contained nickel and so won't be
available for use in the EC but I imagine there's something else out there.

Not much else that's both a copper based alloy (like "german silver" or "nickel
silver" (the same thing)) and nickel free and white.

But how about pewter? Not the same to work with as silver or other high
temperature metals, but a wonderfully versatile and easy to work metal
nonetheless. Fun stuff. If you've not tried it before, perhaps you'll enjoy
it.

I did some pewter casting years ago but, to be honest, it isn't really
economic for a single artizan to do in the UK when people like 'AE
Williams' ( http://www.pewtergiftware.com/ ) are making magnificent
things at reasonable prices.
