Thankyou for your ideas. Trieed a few, but then found I had bigger
problems.
End result to new issue is New Machine.
Hubby is going to get me the SK860 DK Electronic (and ribber). RESULT
= full set of electronic machines.

I seem to remember a post on the knittingmachine list that said that
since the bar on the 120 was so narrow to take a piece of felt and fold
it in half twice and serge the edge. Take a screwdriver and push the
serged edge into the channel and then insert it into the machine.
There's also instructions on the knittingmachine list for replacing the
sponge with weather stripping. email me privately if you need the
instruction sheet.
