need with 10 or 10.5.

Where are you getting these sizes from? 10s are 6mm and 13s are

According to my Boye needle gauge, which has holes in case you need
to check the size of your needles, size 10 needles are 5.75 mm, 10.5
is 6.5 mm, 11 is 8 mm, and 13 is 9 mm. If she wants a size 12 needle, a
3/8" dowel rod would is very close to 9 mm or a size 13 comparing an
American ruler to the metric holes in my gauge. Cutting it to
whatever length, 10, 14, or custom, then sanding it down to 8.5 mm
would give her an approximate size 12 needle. I used a 1/4" dowel to
get 6 mm needles, which is in between my Boye 10 and 10.5's.

I'm sure Boye sizes differ from other brands, but they make up most
of what I have for HK needles, which is why I specified the
measurements were taken from my Boye gauge.

Hope it clears up any confusion I may have caused!

Well, causes more on my end... I have a Boye gauge and it pegs 10s at
6.mm, and the rest the same as yours. Maybe yours is an older one? I
know some of my older needles don't size the same as the newer ones.
