Basic acrylic polymers can be purchased from www.specialplasters.co.uk
I use their SP201 base to coat fabrics and I know that the Artist's
canvas maufacturers use it mixed with whiting to prep the canvas.
It can also be used in plaster to make it more like a resin but
without the smell ! You may have to gel it by adding some cellulose
ester.
