Default Thanks to all that helped!!

Thanks, Ann! I'll add them to my list of "somedays". Someday I'll try to
remember everything that is on that list!

The sweater and mittens are darling, Ann. What pattern did you use for
the
sweater?

Thanks.

For the cardigan, I used a pattern from freepatterns.com. here's the
direct link to the pattern.
http://www.freepatterns.com/fp_pdfs/...y_Ensemble.pdf

The pattern called for a button at the top. But I replaced the button
with a self made chinese knot button instead. I did a long chain of
single crochet and followed the instructions from this site.

The loop also consists of a chain of single crochet.

As for the mittens, well, that was my own self creation. I shall type
out the pattern here. Nothing fancy though.

Mitten Pattern:

Row 1: I cast on 16 sts
Row 2: stokinette st for 5 rows
Row 7: k1p1 ribbing for 3 rows
Row 10: stokinette st for 15 rows
Row 25: k2tog twice at the beginning and the end of the same row
Row 26: Stokinette st for 3 rows
Row 29: inc 2 sts at the beginning and at the end of this row.
(I did this by knitting at the front and the back of the loop on the
first 2 and the last 2 stitches)
Row 30: Stokinette st for 15 rows
Row 45: k1p1 ribbing for 3 rows
Row 48: Stokinette st for 5 rows
BO all stitches. Fold mitten in half and seam up the sides.

Additional info: I did a single crochet around the mittens with the
purple yarn to match the cardigan's ribbing. I also threaded elastic
thread around the mittens ribbing twice to give it some grip. I suppose
instead of doing the k1p1 ribbing, you could evenly space some eyelets
to thread ribbons through by doing YO. The pattern is really simple and
can be easily modified based on the recipient by increasing the number
of cast ons and rows.

I'm thinking of embroidering some flowers on the mitten and cardigan as
well. But We'll see how motivated I am. I'm 5 days away from my due
date so I'm anxious for her arrival. Unfortunately, yesterday's trip to
the doctor revealed that I am not dilated yet. Doctor says she's not
ready to come out. -_-"
