Default OT Apples, Spike, and a raccoon

Well I thought about breaking into "Rocky Raccoon", but that didn't seem
as though it would be particularly helpful.

There wasn't much to do.
It's not as if we could set a dog onto the 'coon, and cat versus raccoon
usually ends with a cat funeral. Opening a window and inviting him in
for a quick cuppa seemed as though it would be counter-productive. There
really wasn't anything to be done but watch the show.

So we processed a half bushel of apples the other day and as a space

You see my kitchen is an add on to the house, and upstairs is a former

kitchen from the old duplex days. The roof of the real kitchen is just

outside the upstairs former kitchen, and the end of the counter where
we

set the crock pot is next to a window that looks out onto the roof.

A few hours after we got the crock pot going, we heard our kiri calling

to us to come upstairs Right Away!

So we get up there and there is Spike on a table on the opposite side
of

the window from the crock pot, and he is dancing and singing, and
bushed

up as much as a single coated cat can be.

Right outside the window is a raccoon. This masked fella is just bold
as

brass, he is completely ignoring kiri (a city girl who is completely

freaking out) and teasing Spike.

I would say Mr. Raccoon smelled those apples cooking and came to see if

he could get at them, then stayed to annoy the cat.

So on one side of the window we have Spike doing his I am Cat, I will
eat

you! song and dance, complete with mad pawing on the window glass.

On the other side of the window we have a grinning raccoon rubbing his

face on the glass, standing up and leaning with his hands on the
window,

and generally laughing at the cat.

The glass is plexi, so nobody was going to go through it.

Kiri is going just bats, asking what do we do? what do we do? over and

over.

DH went over and tapped on the window, and the raccoon just pressed his

face against the glass and grinned.

So we just stood back and marvelled at how well the little bugger

understands windows.
