As I recall, for set-in sleeves, you'll do shoulder "decreases" ?by
short-rowing (so the shoulder slants down from the neck), and you'll do more
short-rows at the top of the sleeve to make a round...

Projects

Not gonna happen. I learned/remembered making up the too-small one that a
sock needs horizontal stretch a lot more than it needs vertical stretch. And
I HATED the seam up the back. Hated, hated,...

Projects

I have a drawing final on Tuesday. I ripped out the bad-gauge vertical
stripe knee sock, and am starting over, when I get a chance to sit still, on
a "normal", horizontal stripe knee...

holiday craft fair question

One thing you might want to think about is not undercutting knitters who are
actually trying to make a living selling their work; do your prices
reimburse your costs and your labor at a reasonable...

WHAT?????

I, uh, had the brilliant idea of enrolling in two studio art classes this
semester, so the knitting is going V E R Y slowly. I have "finished" half a
(long knee) sock on #1 US...

Help please...crocheted slippers

In sewing, "ease in the fullness" refers to cases where one piece has a
longer edge than the one it's being seamed to, and means you adjust the
difference in little increments at every opportunity,...

Yarn for socks

Hmm. I had a lot of alpaca left over from sweaters, so I made socks with it.
At the time, I didn't have the patience to knit on #1 or #2 US needles, so I
doubled the yarn and knitted them up on #6s....

You're very kind. I use circulars or dpns wherever possible, because I find
purling tiring. So, the hats, the helmet-liner, the socks, the pullover
sweaters are all done on circulars (or dpns). But...

Blocking 100% Silk

It doesn't stretch, but it "grows" from the weight of the finished garment.

grew past my elbows, and the thing itself kept...

It's been really quiet here

I'm taking two studio art classes--that takes a lot of time.

But I found some self-striping sock yarn that has a pattern for knitting the
socks so the stripes go lengthwise, and I had to try that....

Photographing Jewellery

You're not likely to get true color using flash. Try using a light cube to
filter light from floodlights, and set your camera on its "incandescent
light" setting.

Knitting Up all those L E F T O V E R S

12 inches, changing yarns whenever you feel like it. Bind off). Then I will
feel virtuous enough to knit some new...

I was surprised and disappointed to find, on Googling "sinusoidal stake," to
find only a handful of sources--Otto Frei, Walsh (all the way in the UK),
and Allcraft. Am I missing something obvious...

knitting and purling. Almost everyone has different tensions for knitting
and purling. Usually, as I think someone said, the...
