Discussion Forum for Woodworkers with a Disability
The Able Workshop is a website and online discussion forum for
woodworkers with a disability. The site shares photos and tips of how other people, who have a disability, get around in the shop, and their solutions to barriers. This is an encouraging, how-to site, no pity parties here, just lots of fun and flying woodchips! On the interactive forum, woodworkers can read through posts of others who have questions, ideas, solutions, and other conversations with those who love woodworking and do in spite of a disability. The site has links to resources, websites, tools and more. There is a section to show off your work with the feature of uploading photos of projects. The Able Workshop website has been around since 2001. The discussion forum has been re-launched with a new, user friendly interface and lots of new features. It was started by a woodworker who became a paraplegic in 1983 and wanted to continue to pursue his passion for woodworking. Disabled or not, stop by and visit.
