cable stitch without cable holder?
I thought I had saved a posting that explained how to make a narrow
cable stitch without using the cable stitch holder. However, now I can't find it. If anyone has a link, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance! -- Barbara Vaughan My email address is my first initial followed by my last name at libero dot it. |

Barbara, I'm not sure about the link you're talking about but I have heard that many people simply use a dpn instead of the cable stitch holder. Good luck! LauraJ |
Drop the first X stitches of the cable off the left needle, transfer
the next X stitches to the right needle, grab the first set of stitches with the left needle. Transfer the second set of stitches back to the left needle. Work per instructions. Really not practical for cables over more than about 6 stitches, IMO. Carry a spare DPN :) On Wed, 11 May 2005 20:35:11 +0200, B spewed forth : I thought I had saved a posting that explained how to make a narrow cable stitch without using the cable stitch holder. Well, you can work a fake two-stitch twist, a la Elizabeth or Barbara
Walker. Knit the second stitch on the left, then k2tog the first and second stitches. OR, knit into the back of the second stitch, then knit the first stitch. Something like that. One appears to twist one way, one the other way. Experimentation is a wonderful thing :) On Thu, 12 May 2005 11:47:00 +0200, B spewed forth : On Wed, 11 May 2005 22:47:26 GMT, Wooly wrote: Drop the first X stitches of the cable off the left needle, transfer the next X stitches to the right needle, grab the first set of stitches with the left needle. Ha ha, I thought you were asking about what could be used to replace a cable needle if you didn't have one. I should have read more carefully! Anyway, I think this is the website you're asking about: http://wendyknits.net/knit/cablelesson.htm LauraJ |
