MOVADO Wristwatch ... Real or Fake?
Hello! I recently purchased a "Movado" wris****ch for a very modest price at an estate sale, and I was wondering if there are any telltale ways to distinguish an authentic Movado watch from a potential knock-off piece from a New York City street vendor. In particular, the men's watch I have resembles a Movado Portico, but not exactly. It features a metal, bracelet-style band with gold accents and thirty-six diamonds within a gold ring around a Movado Museum-style black face. Printed at the bottom of the watch face is "SWISS MOVADO QUARTZ" (without the quotation marks). The back of the watch is inscribed "MOVADO SINCE 1881" ... "SWISS MADE 176582" ... and "ALL STEEL * QUARTZ * WATER-RESISTANT" (again, without any of the quotation marks). Thank you very much in advance for your time and consideration in helping me determine whether this is a "real" Movado watch or some low-quality, Chinese-made reproduction. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! |
