rope fenders
Can anyone give me directions to find how to tie (weave) rope fenders like
the ones used decades ago on tugs and other workboats. Most particularly I'm looking for instructions for the long cylindrical type rather than the large mats sometimes used on tugs. I have a large boat (built 1926) and find the inflatable fenders used today to be inadequate. The beauty of the old manila fenders is that they can be partially submerged when mooring to a large log that would otherwise touch the hull below the water line. If you email me, remove the spam blocking capitals from my return address. Gil |
Gil, Here is one I made about 5 years ago.
