Thread for fringe?

Just ordered yummy velvet burnouts from equilter to make Christmas present
scarves. Plan to finish with simple knotted fringe every ?1/4 inch - but
what threads to use? Need bundle of threads to slink, rather than tangle.
Suggestions?

A high quality embroidery thread would probably work, and you should
be able to match the color of the velvet very closely.

Rayon embroidery floss might be just the ticket for this type of
application! The DMC comes as 6 stranded floss in 8 yard lengths. It's
shimmery and shiny and doesn't knot as much as it slithers -- LOL! Just be
warned -- the stuff has a life of it's own! You'll need to either stitch it
down or tie it to the scarf and then use some sort of fabric adhesive or Fray
Check stuff to keep it in place! OH -- it usually runs about $0.80 a skien in
places like Michael's, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby, and is also availabel on line.
