Hi all,
In northeast OH where I live people are going crazy making "no sew-two
sided-polar fleece blankets. My question is this a local thing or are
they as popular every where?
Thanks
Ilene

I was picking up some interfacing at Walmart the other
day and the two customers in front of me had big stacks
of bolts of fleece. That's what they were doing. The fleece
is selling like hotcakes.

What I wonder is why anyone would make a *double* layered fleece blanket!
One layer of that stuff is pretty warm! Besides, it's tres' expensive!!
All of that being siad -- they are doing it here in Magnoliaville (aka
Atlanta) too. Mostly, I think it's because Joanns had a sale on the "kits"
which consist of lengths of two coordinated fleece fabrics. Then they had
demonstrations on how to make the blankets. I must *really* be an elitist snob
because I honestly didn't see why anyone who could cut their own meant and who
could tie their own shoelaces needed lessons on how to cut the fabric into fat
fringes and then tie them together :-))! CiaoMeow ^;;^

Tia Mary, I made a lovely fleece knee rug for my Auntie by using a layer of
fleece and a layer of pretty printed wintella (thin brushed cotton). It was
plenty warm enough and just the right dainty thing for an elderly lady! I didn't
fringe the rug, but stitched the layers together and then blanket stitched them
by hand using perle cotton. Now, my Auntie's passed away and I wonder who wound
up with the rug I made her...

I don't know a soul here in Los Angeles that is making these, tho everyone I
know north of here (I have friends & family spread all along the west coast)
is turning them out like hotcakes. I would have thought it was a climate
thing, if not for the previous poster in Texas!

The major trend here is knitting...long, long, long scarves. I don't knit,
but then, I don't really fit in here, anyway;o)

We are making them in the UK with our school children as super easy craft
items that little hands can manage. They make little ones for dollies cots &
prams.
