old brother machine advice needed

I have an old brother machine (585) which still works fine. Also have
an attched ribber (586) However have lost the manual for the ribber
and need a bit of help using it. how do i set it for circular/tubular?
there are three sliders on it, one on the botton edge that goes from P
to R and to on the carriage, both go from N to P-R. predumably i set
ot on half pitch and then make the knit carrige knit on one direction
(push in part button?) and the ribber carriage in the other but what
combination of the sliders will do that.

thanks in advance.

Yes, that is basically what you do - set the k carriage to slip to the
left, and the R carriage to slip to the right, or vice versa. Either
way will work. Ignore the P-R button on the carriage - that is for
swapping between Patent (tuck) or Rib. Quite why Brother labelled them
that way I'll never know!

If you are still stuck, e-mail me privately - I may have a copy of a
manual you can use to get you going.

Regards,

Jane

thank you so much. so what do the knobs that pull in and out do? is
that just for unjamming it? and what are the possible reasons for it
skipping stitches on the ribber bed, it's not dropping them, just not
knitting then, when it should do, the yarn just carries along some of
the row? is that a tension thing. i've always had tension isues with
the yarn supply.

Answering this privately so I can send a document about ribber height
adjustment.
