Can One Use Pearl Cotton to Tie a Quilt?
Greetings All,
Ususally use yarn of varying thicknesses when I tie my quilts but this time I'm considering using pearl cotton because it more closely resembles a cat's whiskers. Has anybody used pearl cotton to tie a quilt? Does it survive washing without getting all ratted up? This is my main concern, though I suppose I could put a tiny knot at the ends, and I should probably keep the length reasonably short. Any feedback welcome! ~Quiltkitty |
Yeah, sure, that's what i used to tie the two denim quilts i made for my nieces. I
used the heaviest weight i could find. They've washed the quilts several times, and it's been holding up really well. I just left them about an inch or so long. The great thing about it is when you wash it, it shrinks up slightly and the knots get tighter. I'd say go for it. -- Jalynne Queen Gypsy (snail mail available upon request) see what i've been up to at www.100megsfree4.com/jalynne "QUILTKITTY" wrote in message ... I started using yarn, but saw one of the baby quilts I made tied with yarn
and the yarn wore out, so I recommend the pearl cotton as much better, .I use 6 strand embroidery thread sometimes. Both would last a lot longer than yarn Kay "QUILTKITTY" wrote in message ... I've been "tying" my baby quilts using my machine! I tacked one with the
baby's name, over and over! It was very cool! Bar tacks, little butterflies, flowers, etc all make really cool "ties" on a baby quilt, and they DO NOT come out!! (nor do they pose any choking risk if the little darling should starts sucking on a hunk of yarn or perle that's raveling a bit) The Blessed Fiddy, Patroness Saint of the Disorganized LC in Sunny So Cal Personality Development Specialist (Full-Time Mom!) |
Tying with the baby's name or a butterfly is just such a neat idea. I can
do that. Thanks, Polly LC aka Fiddy wrote in message ... I've been "tying" my baby quilts using my machine! I tacked one with the baby's name, over and over! It was very cool!
