OT Christmas Dinner

We are having 24 folk around a few tables at my mother in laws.
She wants a real family "do " so we will oblige. Pot luck
so no one is overburdened. I am going to be traditional with
a turkey, the only time we have it.

It is Summer here, so family will arrive and set up tents. Our
youngest is coming home by bus, a 9 hour journey, but no flights
were available when we changed plans. With our first grandchild
due any day now and a gallant mother in law, her pancreatic cancer
has spread to her liver but she is up and about enjoying all the
family arriving, it is a busy time.

My beaded tree is finished and decorated. Great fun.

Cheers, Jan

Happy to see she's around to do Christmas.
I hope you all make the most of it.

I just now put up the spiral wire Christmas trees I sometimes use
as earring displays because in spite of having a fake tree and
the ornaments at home we haven't had time to put it up.
And this year it took until DD came home in the summer for
it to be taken down. This way it took 5 minutes to put up and will
take 5 minutes to take down. I think I can do that.

I'll have to cook a ham again this time, pack it up into a cooler
to keep it warm and take to a friend's house. DH always find it
funny when I refer to the cold cooler and the hot cooler, but he's
gotten used to it. The ham recipe can be found he
http://www.jach.hawaii.edu/~maren/cook/ham.html
(I think - for some reason I can't get to my work home page right now.
It is in the same town, but I think the routing goes to the US
mainland
and back). Auntie Maren's guava ham. I have to admit that I actually
quite look forward to having it myself, because for one or the other
reason
it's been quite a while since I made one. Making one for every major
holiday, and making ham sandwiches, ham quiches and split pea
soup with the leftovers for just 2 people almost all of the time now
is a bit boring, so I don't make a ham for every holiday anymore.
DH just finished the turkey barley soup form the Thanksgiving turkey
today (I had some for lunch today too, I need the space in the
fridge).

Speaking of arriving babies, my sister gave us an early
Christmas present of a little boy. She had another 4
weeks to go, but they're non the worse for it, Samuel
was 2.4kg and 48cm long.
