Free postage stamps for crafts

Hi all!
I have a lot of postage stamps that can be used in crafts. Many are
damaged, most are very, very common and essentially worthless. They are not
suitable for stamp collecting, even a new collector, but they can have a
second life to be used in crafts. Anyone who would like some, I will send
some free. I sent these sorts of stamps to crafters before.
My only conditions a
My conditions a
1. I mail stamps to you... they are free.
2. You use them only in crafts (they are worthless to stamp collectors so
please don't give any for that).
3. You agree to return the stamps I used for the postage on the package.
I enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope to return them if you are in US
or Canada. If you live in another country I''l have to ask you to pay the
postage back to me.
4. If possible, send me a scan of what you made (just for curiosity you
understand, not a requirement).
The only cost to you is the trip to the mailbox. If you are elsewhere
you bear the postal cost to return my used stamps.
If you agree, reply to this newsgroup postingas my e-mail on this post
is invalid.
Dave

I don't want your stamps but I have to say, this is
one of the more curious posts I've seen in all my
years of browsing the Usenet groups. What is your
motivation for this, if you don't mind my asking?

Oh suspicious one,
Here's the deal. I have a box of postage stamps that are essentially
worthless. Worthless to stamp collectors that is because they are cheap,
common, and damaged. They still do have value as something to be used in
crafts (collages seem most often use stamps). I want to get rid of them,
but don't want to throw them out.
My motive? Do a good deed. One of my requirements is to return the
stamps I used as postage to send them, therefore I get a "reward" of those
stamps for my own stamp collection.
I'm not a business. Your e-mail & snail mail address will be kept
confidential. And if I see what someone makes, that will be interesting to
me. I have sent such stamps before, but I apparently sent them enough as
they have not requested any since then.
So... have I satisfied your curiosity?

Well, if you want to have people send you
stamps on cards or envelopes, why offer them
stamps as an incentive? I think you narrow
it down to people who would want to use your
stamps for some reason. But if you requested
that people send you something by mail -
anything at all you can think of - I suspect
you'd get a greater response. For example:

I am a collector of people's "doodles." Won't
you be kind enough to send one of yours for
my collection. I promise to post it to my
web site in an album, and you can watch for
yours to arrive there at:
http://www.doodles.com

Or: I am seeking "doodles" to give as gifts
to old folks in the retirement home here as
an incentive for them to create doodles of
their own. etc etc.

Well... I do have these stamps to give away that someone could use in
their craft. I really don't like the idea of requesting people to send me
anything. I don't know what I'd want that people would readily send.

Sorry... I've never been a doodler. Still not.

I'm not quite sure you understand my motives or the usefulness of the
stamps I offer. It is really a "no strings" deal. Just doing something
nice for someone. And we can all use more niceness in the world. Just my
small contribution.

Dave:

I know exactly what you mean by using them for crafting ... I have a
small collection of similar stamps I've been saving waiting for just
the right "small" project. Most of mine seem to be green - does your
collection happen to tend to blues or reds? If so, I'd love to take
some off your hands.

One project such stamps are perfect for is a stationary box: Use an
old cardboard cigar box or school pencil box (if you can find one!),
cover them with the stamps, lacquer the outside lightly when you're
done, put notepaper, envelopes, etc. inside, and you have a perfect
gift for a long-distance friend or relative for Xmas, birthday, what
have you.

They'd also work to cover a pringles can, which you can fill with
colored pencils, paintbrushes, etc, for an arty friend.

Or a shoebox, to store correspondence.

Lots of uses for old stamps! :)

Ah... Angel understands,
The box of stamps I have is mixed. It would take some doing to
seperate into colours. I could, if you wish start saving stamps in those
colours for you. Then when I have about an ounce or so, send them to you.
I have a several pound box of the ordinary British stamps called
Machins by stamp collectors. They are a profile of the queen and are
extremely common. They come in about every colour you can think of as this
design has been in use for nearly 40 years. If that sounds good I can start
soaking them off paper for you.

Dave:

I'm not really that picky about colors ... it's just the decorating
trend in our home is maroon, hunter green, & navy blue. So I tend to
focus on those.

I'm happy with whatever you'd like to rid yourself of!

Angel

P.S. My husband said as long as I don't cover a wall with them ... or
his favorite (UGLY!) lampshade!
